We are adventure seekers. We love being outdoors, going on hikes, swimming in the sea and finding new ways to spend more time in nature. And, of course, we love sauna.
So it’s no surprise that our brand selection has recently welcomed Bast sauna - a Swedish company creating compact tent saunas to take along on your adventures.
A sauna made for the outdoors
Bast is a wood-fired sauna, and the idea behind it is very simple - sauna wherever you are. That’s exactly what we love about it. Sometimes the best sauna comes after a long day outdoors, with sand under your feet, the sea just a few steps away and hot sauna stones right beside you.
For our own adventures, we chose the Naver Premium Black model with both a single-level and a two-level sauna bench. When we first unpacked our Bast sauna, we were surprised by the quality and how carefully every detail had been thought through.
Our sauna tent is equipped with the new Bast wood-burning stove, which was introduced only recently. It’s compact, but with the additional stone cage, it holds an impressive 60 kg of stones, creating pleasantly soft and humid sauna steam.
And perhaps it’s exactly this simplicity that we love most about a tent sauna. You don’t need a sauna building or an electricity connection — find your spot, set up the tent, light the stove, and soon you have a sauna right there in the middle of the forest or by the sea.
Sauna adventures with Bast
Our sauna tent’s first outing this year was the Kolka ← Dubulti training hike organised by Baltais Kalns, on the coast in Mērsrags. We managed to set up the tent in 30 minutes - with Rolands doing all the work while the rest of the team was out hiking. The Bast stove heats up quickly, you need to add some wood from time to time, but the small space warms up fast. Our sauna was ready in around 30 minutes.
And, of course, one of the best parts — there’s no need to look for a cold shower afterwards. In our case, the sea was just a few steps away. After almost 30 km of hiking, a hot sauna and a cold non-alcoholic Kokmuiža beer were the perfect combination!
Later, Bast joined us again at the finish of the Kolka ← Dubulti 136 km hike at Cape Kolka. After more than a hundred kilometres, rain, wind and long hours on the trail, a hot sauna was waiting for the finishers right by the sea.
