What is Asuntomessut?
Every summer, a different Finnish city hosts Asuntomessut – a unique housing fair where an entire residential village is built in collaboration with builders, architects, designers, and manufacturers. For a full month, the village opens to the public, offering a chance to explore completed homes, gather ideas, and discover the latest trends in design and technology – from architecture and interiors to furniture, landscaping, and outdoor living.
This year we visited Asuntomessut 2025 in Oulu to see how our Finnish partners Drop Spa, Tulikivi, and Woodio fit into the fair’s homes. The result? Even greater confidence that our represented brands naturally blend with a variety of interior styles and truly embody the Nordic lifestyle.
Fair Highlights
At this year’s Asuntomessut Oulu 2025, the following were built:
- 18 villas with landscaped gardens (almost all with a sauna);
- 4 family homes with shared spaces (sauna, workshop, garden);
- a complex of 7 two-storey houses;
- the K21 residential block with a senior care home, kindergarten, and apartments;
- the Olo public floating sauna, set to open to visitors at the end of September.
This year’s design trends
LIGHT WOOD FINISHES
It seems that just a year ago black or thermo wood finishes were everywhere, so it was especially exciting to see so many light wood finishes at this year’s fair — not only in interiors and saunas but also on building façades. This creates a sense of brightness and spaciousness, making the air feel lighter to breathe. Light wood finishes can look both elegant and modern 🤍
NARROW THERMO WOOD PANELS
What a joy it was to recognize our own narrow RIMA profile in the sauna finish of the very first villa. We were delighted to see how beautifully it fits, not only in sauna interiors but also on bathroom ceilings. However, by the fifth villa, we realized that the narrow thermo wood profile had started its victory march this year, as it could be found in the interiors of practically every second house. Among many interiors, we also noticed panels similar to SHARP used on ceilings and in sauna designs. Needless to say, our clients in Latvian projects have also fallen in love with thermo wood panels featuring narrow lines 🤎
TULIKIVI SAUNAS
Asuntomessut is a Finnish fair, and naturally, among all the brands and interior elements, Finnish brands shine the brightest. One of our dearest brands, Tulikivi, was featured in 8 saunas at this year’s fair. All Tulikivi sauna heaters are made of natural soapstone, which heats up but doesn’t get very hot. This makes the heaters safe to use, especially for families with small children.
The stone finishes of the heaters are available in different shades, allowing the heater to match the overall sauna interior. The heaters are also very easy to integrate into the benches — practically every Tulikivi heater in this year’s fair was built into the central bench of the sauna.
The Tulikivi electric sauna heater is also the centerpiece of the newly opened Olo public sauna, which, after opening, will welcome not only sauna enthusiasts but also host sauna rituals for a wider audience.
OUTDOOR DESIGN SPAS BY DROP
In six villas at this year’s Asuntomessut, stylish outdoor spas were featured — in shades of grey, white, and black. These spas are not only modern but also practical. They can be fully built into the terrace, placed above the surface, or partially embedded into the terrace, matching the terrace finish with the spa itself.
Moreover, everyone can find their perfect Drop spa, thanks to the wide range of models available — from spas with powerful massage jets and atmospheric bubbles to completely silent models designed for those who prefer peaceful relaxation without bubbles.
A perfect addition to the outdoor spa is the steel Drop fire pit with its iconic drop shape. At this year’s fair, two villa gardens were adorned with these durable Drop fire pits.
DESIGN BATHROOM FURNITURE BY WOODIO
With Woodio’s modern sinks, toilets, and bathtubs, we believe that any interior becomes more special. Moreover, all products are available in 15 (!) different shades to suit every taste and style 🌿. This year’s fair also showed just how perfectly these products fit into such a wide variety of interiors.
And did we mention that Woodio products are made from wood chips? A perfect match with our values and style 🖤
MEADOW FLOWERS & GARDEN DESIGN
In Finland, they truly know how to create modern gardens with grasses, meadow flowers, and small stones. Combined with minimalist house designs, this touch of slightly wild nature creates a stunning contrast and a calming atmosphere for peaceful relaxation 🌿.
In conclusion
We’ve been visiting Asuntomessut for three years now, and every time it fuels us with ideas and creative energy. This year, seeing so many homes featuring Drop Spa, Tulikivi, and Woodio confirmed what we’ve always believed – we’ve chosen the very best Nordic brands to bring to you in Latvia 🖤
